Mentors Revealed for Higher Education Track Finals | The 8th GCD4FE

From July 26 to 28, 2025, Higher Education Track Finals of the 8th Global Competition on Design for Future Education (2025) , co-hosted by Beijing Normal University and UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE), will be held at the Changping Campus of Beijing Normal University. The competition will bring together over 100 participants from more than 30 universities worldwide, including Beijing Normal University, Tsinghua University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Maldives National University, Sungkyunkwan University (South Korea), and Mariano Marcos State University (Philippines). These participants will leverage their professional expertise and collaborate closely to address real-world educational challenges intertwined with multiple factors.
 
Fourteen experts and scholars have been invited as mentors for the Finals. With their diverse academic backgrounds, cross-disciplinary innovative perspectives, and profound industry insights, they will provide comprehensive guidance to help participating teams break through in problem awareness, solution development, and presentation skills. Together, they will shape the boundless possibilities of education. (Note: Sort by the first letter of the surname)

Winner of 2020 Red Dot Design Award and the 2020 Visual Communication Award from China Graphic Design Association. Master of Arts from University of the Arts London, UK.
 
Dr. Ting Da
Postdoctoral Fellow, Beijing Normal University
Postdoctoral Fellow at Beijing Normal University, Project Leader for the Evaluation of Large Language Models (LLMs) Driven by Educational Scenarios at National Engineering Research Center of Cyberlearning and Intelligent Technology (China), Director of the Advanced Workshop on AIGC Empowering Human-Machine Collaborative Teaching. Her primary research focuses on the evaluation and application of LLMs/AI agents in education, with a particular emphasis on how LLMs and AI agents can empower human-computer collaborative teaching. Additionally, she serves as a core member of the UNESCO Chair on Artificial Intelligence and Education (UNESCO AIED), contributing to related research initiatives.

 
Mr. Junyi Li (Frankel)
Special Research Fellow, China Education 30 Forum
An education researcher and practitioner, who focuses on future and interdisciplinary education. He authored "New Vocational Dynamic", "Super AI and Future Education", "Metaverse Education" and "Family Education Insights". Special Research Fellow of the China Education 30 Forum. Academic Committee Member of the Institute of Social Aesthetic Education, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.

Associate Professor, School of Arts & Media, Beijing Normal University
Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at the School of Arts and Media at Beijing Normal University, Ph.D. from the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, as well as a government-sponsored visiting scholar. Council Member of the Specialized Committee on Design Education, China Association of Higher Education. Vice Director of the Design Education Committee, China National Interior Decoration Association. Member of the Art Committee, Beijing Artists Association. Standing Committee Member of the Specialized Committee on Rural Art Construction, University Alliance. Rotating Chair of the Euro-American Federation of Chinese Art Scholars.
 
Mr. Dongming Ma
Lecturer, Department of Product Design, Beijing University of Chemical Technology
Lecturer in the Department of Product Design at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. His research focuses on product design theory, methods, and service design. Has been awarded "Top Ten Teachers" of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and "Excellent Instructor" in the Beijing College Students' Industrial Design Competition and the National College Students' Advertising Art Competition. He has published over 30 academic papers, edited 4 textbooks, and holds 8 patents. He has guided students to win more than 80 awards in academic competitions.

Dr. Saeed Dahdahjani
Senior Designer, Tsinghua University
Senior Designer and a Ph.D. candidate in the Visual Communication Design Department of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. He has served as the design director of many design companies with extensive expertise in design management. He is a master at Corporate identity design, industrial design, interior design, and ergonomic optimization, etc.
 
Dr. Huanhuan Wang
Assistant Research Professor, Beijing Normal University
Assistant Research Professor at Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Postdoctoral Researcher in Educational Technology, Ph.D. in Learning, Design & Technology from Purdue University, USA. Her research focuses on instructional feedback, motivation, and social experimental studies on AI in education. She has been involved in AI and future education development research, the UNESCO International Bureau of Education (UNESCO-IBE) initiative on Hybrid Education, Learning, and Assessment, and the United Nations Endorsed Project “Reshaping the Future of Educational Science based on Intelligent Social Experiment”.
 
Mr. Quan Wen
Founder of the independent design brand TUAN
Guest teacher of Innovative Thinking courses at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Beijing University of Technology College of Art & Design, and National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. Former Director of FengGuo Design and Research Institute. Founder of Beijing Hezuo Creative Culture Co., Ltd. He is also the founder of the independent design brand TUAN. Event Planner for WGI China and Marching Sport Art (MSA) Platform. 

Assoc. Prof. Pengfei Xu
Associate Professor, School of Artificial Intelligence, Beijing Normal University
Associate Professor at the School of Artificial Intelligence, Beijing Normal University. Chief Coach of the School's Programming Competition Team and Researcher at the National Engineering Research Center of Cyberlearning and Intelligent Technology. His main research interest is the application of artificial intelligence in education. He participated in many national and provincial R&D projects as a key member, including the “K-12 Education Big Data R&D and Application Demonstration Project” of the National Development and Reform Commission. He has published over 40 academic papers in international conferences and journals.

Mr. Ran Zhang 
Technical Director, AECO APAC region, Trimble Inc.
Technical Director of AECO APAC region, Trimble Inc., with 15 years of experience in domestic and international architectural design and engineering projects and experience in computational optimization, parametric design, BIM, AR/MR/VR visualization, AIGC, sustainable design and R&D. He was the international judge of buildingSMART BIM competition. He has contributed to the writing of technical articles on digital design technologies, which have been published in journals such as Building Structure and presented at conferences including CTBUH and the European Conference on Computing in Construction (EC³).
 
Dr. Yifan Zhang
Postdoctoral Fellow, Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University
A Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Delaware, USA. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Smart Learning Institute of Beijing Normal University, a member of the UNESCO Chair on Artificial Intelligence and Education, and a mentor for the Global Competition on Design for Future Education. His research interests mainly include learning sciences, AI-assisted education, and computational thinking.

Mr. Zishuo Zhang
CEO, Beijing Yitong Shijie Education Technology Co., Ltd
A graduate from Beijing Normal University, serial entrepreneur in the technology sector, CEO of Beijing Yitong Shijie Education Technology Co., Ltd., founder of StepFlow—a next-generation interactive 3D engine tool. As part of the champion team (China) in the 2019 Global Competition on Design for Future Education, he has won multiple gold awards in entrepreneurship and mentored several award-winning projects.

Dr. Shiliang Zheng
Professor, Associate Dean, Vocational & Technical Teacher Education School, Shanghai Polytechnic University
Professor, Associate Dean of Vocational & Technical Teacher Education School of Shanghai Polytechnic University. His researches focus on intelligent education and vocational-technical education. He has been the judge for prestigious competitions such as the "Challenge Cup" and "Internet+" Innovation Contests for many years. His is the recipient of Shanghai Outstanding Teaching Achievement Awards (2017, 2021).

Dr. Wei Zhou
Assistant Researcher, Beijing Normal University
He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology, complemented by a Master's degree in Computer Applications and a Bachelor's in Mathematics. His primary research focuses on software engineering, smart learning environments, and artificial intelligence in education. Dr. Zhou's distinctive interdisciplinary background enables him to merge rigorous engineering principles with progressive educational theories. His work has produced a dynamic portfolio of achievements, including high-impact academic papers, innovative software systems, and registered patents.
