Workshop on the Global Competition on Design for Future Education | The 10th Smart Learning Academic Week of Beijing Normal University

On January 9, 2025, the Workshop on the Global Competition on Design for Future Education was successfully held during “The 10th Smart Learning Academic Week of Beijing Normal University”. Organized by the Smart Learning Institute of Beijing Normal University (BNUSLI), the workshop brought together 10 experts, representatives from regional selection contests, and participant representatives from various countries and regions to review the competition, share insights, and provide valuable suggestions.

The workshop, hosted by Dr. Tingwen Chang, Assistant to the Dean, BNUSLI, was conducted in a hybrid online and offline format. We invited Ahmed Tilili, Assistant Professor at Beijing Normal University, China, Petar Jandrić, Professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Zagreb, Vesna Uglješić, Senior Lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Zagreb, Croatia, Mouna Denden, Postdoctoral Fellow at Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France, France; Renata Kiss, Ph.D., the University of Szeged, Hungary, Michael Agyemang Adarkwah, Assistant Researcher at the University of Jena, Germany, Syakti Perdana Sriyansyah, Educator at BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi, Indonesia, as well as Usama Kalim, Postdoctoral Fellow at Beijing Normal University, Samaneh Lahuti and Boulus Shehata, 
doctoral candidates at Beijing Normal University.

They acknowledged the competition's significant role in promoting innovation in education and provided insightful recommendations for improving it.

International Collaboration: Strengthen collaboration with international institutions to expand the competition’s global influence.
Competition Themes: Design specific themes aligned with real-world applications, encouraging participants to tackle challenges and enhance their creative problem-solving.
Competition Training: Enhance training programs, and offer workshops on design thinking, innovation leadership, and generative AI to improve participants’ capabilities.
Competition Workflow: Provide detailed guidance for each track and optimize registration, submission, and other processes to ensure a seamless experience for participants.
Promotion of Results: Leverage initiatives such as the Global Course Resources on “Design and Learning”
project cases and practices from participants, and videos to showcase outcomes and broaden the competition’s societal impact.
