On August 18, 2023, Beijing Normal University officially inaugurated the commencement of the Global Finals of the 6th Global Competition on Design for Future Education at its Changping Campus. Organized by Beijing Normal University and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, the Competition is hosted by the Smart Learning Institute and the National Engineering Research Center of Cyberlearning and Intelligent Technology. The Beijing Design Society and the Beijing Design Week Organizing Committee are special support organizations, with NetDragon Websoft Holdings Limited sponsoring. The Competition's themes include "AI and Education, Metaverse and Education, Rural Education, Inclusive Education, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Psychology," catering to college students and primary and secondary school teachers. Attending the Global Finals Opening Ceremony were Mr. Wu Yujun, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of Beijing Normal University, Mr. Keiichi Kawate, Vice-President and Professor of Tokyo Gakugei University, and Prof. Chen Guangju, Vice Director of the University Council of Beijing Normal University.

Mr. Keiichi Kawate, Vice-President of Tokyo Gakugei University, emphasized in his speech the significance of cooperation for shaping future education. Beijing Normal University and Tokyo Gakugei University are geographically linked in East Asia and share a close connection in the application of technology and education. This year’s Competition aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to address pivotal issues and explore suitable solutions for designing future education. Prof. Chen Guangju Launches the 48-hour Countdown
The 6th Global Competition on Design for Future Education Global Finals for Students will last three days and employ a blend of online and offline formats. Offline participants will convene at Beijing Normal University's Changping Campus and interact with their online teammates via virtual meetings. The Organizing Committee have arranged engaging activities such as morning exercises and craft workshops for offline participants, enabling them to unwind, invigorate their creativity, and wholeheartedly engage in the Competition amidst the intense schedule.
Throughout the 48-hour Competition, fierce Group Stage and Repechage will transpire. After announcing the final advancement results, the advancing teams will present their projects, competing for awards including gold, silver, and bronze awards in the Roadshow Report. During this phase, experts and scholars in the field of educational design will provide insightful evaluations.
