Smart Learning Institute

On May 25, 2017, co-hosted by China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) and Smart Learning Institute of BNU, “Smart Learning and Open Educational Resources (OER) Forum” was held in Shenyang International Exhibition Center. This Forum focused on smart learning environment and open educational resources. Lots of experts and scholars from China, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia and other countries gathered in the exhibition center to share their research results, exchange their experiences and discuss on the revolutionary influence on education brought by information technology.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Yuan Gao, Director of Open Educational Resources Laboratory of SLIBNU. Guoliang Chen, an academician of Chinese Academy of Science and Xiaomei Wang, Vice Secretary-General of CAHE gave a speech on the ceremony. Academician Guoliang Chen pointed out that it was a trend to promote joint construction and sharing of open educational resources in developing education. Vice Secretary-General Xiaomei Wang said, smart learning was a new revolution, building open educational resources was an important way to enhance equal access to education and realize the exchange between different countries. She believed both of them were of great significance. She hoped this forum can enlighten and strengthen wisdom.

On behalf of the project group, Ronghuai Huang, Dean of Smart Learning Institute of BNU, and his team member Professor Haiguang Fang of Capital Normal University, Assistant Researcher Shuping Wu of Open University of China and Senior Project Manager Yanli Jiao of Smart Learning Institute released White Paper: Smart Learning Environment China 2016.

Information Technology and Vocational Training under Smart Learning Environment—one of the sessions of the forum, was presided over by Nikola Zivlak, Vice President of Serbian Norwich University and Donghua University. Scholars and company representatives from China, Croatia, Hungary and Serbia had a discussion on the status quo of the vocational training and some hot issues on the practices.

The keynote speech in the afternoon was presided over by Kai Kang, Secretary of China Association of Higher Education. Jianhua Zhao, Deputy Director of the International Center for Higher Education Innovation under the Auspices of UNESCO, as well as professor of Southern University of Science and Technology, Bojan Lalic, associate professor of Norwich University and Xiaoju Hou, Deputy Secretary-General of Information Technology Teaching Guidance Committee of Ministry of Education, gave reports respectively on the topic of Standardization-and-application-oriented Innovation of Higher Education Resources, China and European Countries OER Sharing Mechanism under the Framework of Industrial 4.0 and the topic of Practices on Building Open Resources in Vocational Education.
