The Spanish local education director said on Thursday that they do not intend to open public early education classrooms for children under 6 years of age before the end of the school year. The move rejected a proposal made by the Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez two weeks ago that part of Spain entered the second stage of the new crown epidemic epidemic prevention and can open classrooms for children whose parents cannot work at home. This stage will be implemented in parts of Spain on May 25 after the new crown epidemic indicators have improved.
Sanchez said on April 29, "In some families, both parents must go to work, and the children cannot be left to grandparents because they are a high-risk group." But after meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Education on Thursday, Regional officials said that they believe that young students cannot maintain the agreed social distance. The only exception is the Basque region, which proposed a plan last week to reopen the education center for children under two years of age.
