The city of Vienna is gradually increasing childcare again. A step-by-step plan is now on the table.
While gastronomy, sports, church services and hairdressers are gradually being brought back to normal, parents have in recent days sometimes had the impression that kindergartens are being forgotten. In Vienna they don't want to be left alone - and present a step-by-step plan for opening the kindergartens.
The gradual start-up of many companies has increased the number of children in kindergartens massively after the Easter holidays, says Education City Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky (SPÖ). If there are further easing in early May, a further increase is to be expected.
Needs-based
In order to be prepared for this and to enable children to have more social contacts, the following now applies: During the exit restrictions that apply until April 30, all working parents can bring their children to kindergartens . "However, in order to be able to plan the childcare offer, we ask the parents to inform their respective kindergarten of their needs in good time," emphasizes MA10 boss Daniela Cochlar.
The opening times of the individual locations would be "designed according to requirements". The offer also applies to families who are faced with great stress and to single parents.
Deadline May 4th
From May 4, children in the last year of kindergarten before school, children in the penultimate year of kindergarten with language needs, and children who are the only children living in a household will be invited to the kindergartens. The need for care must be announced in good time.
It is important: No child loses space if it does not go to kindergarten, emphasizes Czernohorszky . The attendance obligation in the last year of kindergarten remains suspended until further notice.
The hygiene measures that are already in place are strictly adhered to: regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces, regular ventilation and maintaining distances as far as possible. Wearing mouth-nose protection is not mandatory, but is possible on a voluntary basis.
