As education in schools and universities is facing unprecedented challenges, UNESCO IITE in cooperation with its global partners are coming together to build up the longer-term resilience of education systems. Among the range of immediate joint activities to step up the emergency response, helping teachers acquire the knowledge and essential skills in online teaching is of great importance.
The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) designed the free crash course “Be an Online Tutor in 24 Hours”, the Russian version of the course was produced with the help of UNESCO IITE to be used by educators in CIS countries. The course was designed to assist teachers in the transition to distance learning in the context of emergency closure of schools and universities and is available in several languages on the official HMBSU website. Aimed at supporting teachers who have little or no experience in online teaching, the course will assist educators in reshaping their workplace for efficient online teaching. In addition, it provides recommendations and technical support to master common authoring tools for collaborative online learning.
On April 2, 2020, the Russian version of the course was officially launched by H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the Minister of Education of UAE, Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, HBMSU Chancellor, and the members of the IITE Governing Board.
More materials and resources for digital learning prepared by partner organizations are available on the official portal of the UNESCO IITE Initiative “Combat COVID-19: Keep learning. Together we are on the move!”.
