Chen Guangju

Vice Dean of Smart Learning Institute

Professor at Beijing Normal University (BNU), and Vice Dean of the Smart Learning Institute. Previously, he served as Vice President of BNU and President of the Zhuhai Campus. He has long engaged in theoretical chemistry research while also participating in higher education administration and pedagogy, covering chemical reaction mechanisms, molecular vibration–rotation theory, molecular aggregates, relationships between molecular structure and properties and their interactions, structural molecular biology, faculty development, undergraduate talent cultivation, monitoring and enhancement of basic-education quality, and smart education and learning.

He has led or taken part in over 30 national and provincial research projects. In the late 1990s, he undertook and participated in the national “Ninth Five-Year” key science and technology project—Development and Application of Computer-Aided Instruction Software (project 96-750)—and published Structural Chemistry (Crystal Structure) CAI and Exploring the Microcosm. He is among the chief editors of Quantum Chemistry, Structural Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, and the “General Senior High School Textbook” Chemistry (compulsory and elective series). His honors include the Third Prize of the State Education Commission’s Science and Technology Progress Award, First and Second Prizes in the inaugural National Textbook Construction Awards (Basic Education category), two Second Prizes for National Teaching Achievement, and teaching achievement awards in Beijing and Guangdong.

His current research focuses on educational digital transformation, smart education and smart learning, and design-and-learning. He has served as editor-in-chief of books including China Smart Learning Research Report and Test of Education Application in China: Methods, Practice, and Envision. He has published over 100 academic papers and registered several software copyrights.
