Professor Huang Ronghuai Met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia and Visited Universities

Under the invitation of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), Professor Huang Ronghuai, co-Director of the Smart Learning Institute of Beijing Normal University (SLIBNU), led his team to visit Tunisia from May 20th to 25th. Accompanied by Professor Mohamed Jemni, Director of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Department at ALECSO, they met with Professor Mahmoud Al-Zawawi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia, and visited the National Institute of Applied Science and Technology (INSAT) and the Virtual University of Tunisia (UVT). They exchanged views on cooperation between China and Tunisia in the fields of AI and the digital transformation of education.

On the morning of May 25th in Tunisia, Professor Huang and his team held talks with Professor Mahmoud Al-Zawawi and directors of other relevant departments.
They discussed the potential opportunities for Tunisia’s higher educational institutes and SLIBNU to cooperate over AI and exchanged views on China-Tunisia joint research on the digital transformation of education in Arabian countries and other related cooperation. The two sides reached a common ground on carrying out a seminar on China-Tunisia digital transformation on education under the support of ALECSO and further deepening the ties to promote bilateral educational exchange.

During the visits to INSAT and UVT, Professor Huang and his team held talks with the two college administration teams. Professor Huang introduced the UNESCO Chair on Artificial Intelligence in Education, the National Engineering Laboratory for Cyberlearning and Intelligent Technology (CIT), and the Smart Learning Institute and its cooperation with other countries. He learned about INSAT and UVT’s progress on educational digitization, AI curriculum, studies on educational robots and other aspects, and shared ideas on topics of common interest. Leaders of INSAT and UVT showed their willingness to cooperate with SLI and will actively support related work.
