SputnikNews, Moscow, March 20. The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falikov said that about 60% of colleges and universities in the country operate normally under distance teaching conditions, and only 4% of colleges and universities cannot achieve distance teaching .

Falikov previously signed a document requesting Russian universities to arrange students to listen to classes remotely and organize all students to interact with teachers remotely to prevent the spread of the new crown virus.

He pointed out: "According to the information we have, at present 60% of colleges and universities are operating normally, and 27% of colleges and universities have frequent interruptions in distance teaching. At the same time, 10% of colleges and universities cannot accept all students online at the same time, and 4% are unable to conduct distance teaching at all. 

Falikov revealed that many well-known colleges and universities have "infrastructure paralyzed" when transferring to distance learning, but they can all be commissioned in a short time. He said that Russia's small and medium-sized cities and small and medium-sized universities encountered the most difficulties, and there was a problem of insufficient server power.
 
The WHO announced on March 11 that the COVID-19 virus has begun a global pandemic. More than 209,000 cases have been diagnosed in 168 countries around the world, and more than 8700 deaths. A total of 199 cases were diagnosed in Russia.
