To combat coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as preparing for future global health threats, people around the world are in action, with the powerful support of those emerging technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of them, which has been frequently used in our daily life among various domains, including education, medicine, finance, etc.

Imagine AI as a super hero who is protecting and fighting with you during the pandemic, isn’t it attractive that you can learn to know and interact with him?
This interactive book is now providing such an opportunity, from which you can acknowledge how this super hero works and in what ways he fights against COVID-19.

First, the book starts with introducing some facts about AI, including a brief history of AI and several related terms, to prepare the young readers with basic knowledge about AI.

From chapter 2 to chapter 5, details about how computers interact with the world like human do are introduced. Chapter 2 focuses on the way computers recognize the world and how face and speech recognition help during COVID-19. Chapter 3 mainly discusses the representation and reasoning abilities of computers and how medical clinic diagnosis and Augmented Reality consultation work during COVID-19. Chapter 4 introduces the power of machine learning which can predict the spread of coronavirus and accelerate healthcare solutions. Chapter 5 further discusses how computers interact with human utilizing natural language processing. Moreover, these chapters also present hands-on learning experience about AI by showing simple programming code that children could use and implement on the JupyterLab environment, which is an open-source web-based interactive development environment that can support a wide range of workflows in data science, scientific computing, and machine learning.

Besides, the last chapter concerns how AI impacts our life, as well as what we should keep in mind to avoid social and ethical issues.

To conclude, the purpose of this book is to help prepare the young generation for the next crisis/pandemic in the era of AI, especially children between the age of 9 and 15, in an easy and fun way. However, it should be noted that this book can also be read by other people with different ages who may not have any background about AI. Parents and teachers can use this book to introduce AI to their children or students respectively, and guide them to interact with the presented code online.
