Lifelong learning is becoming not only a policy aspiration but a practical necessity. As knowledge, skills, and occupational requirements evolve more quickly, individuals need continuous opportunities to learn, unlearn, and relearn across the lifespan. Lifelong learning is no longer limited to adult education or professional development; it increasingly refers to a broader capacity for adaptability, self-regulation, and continuous competence development in a world shaped by AI. The key question, therefore, is whether we are shaping AI to support meaningful lifelong learning for all, or whether AI is beginning to shape learning behaviors, choices, and systems in ways we do not fully understand.
This GSENet webinar will bring together researchers, policymakers, educators, and private sector partners to reflect on how AI is redefining lifelong learning and what should be done to ensure that this transformation remains equitable, empowering, and human-centered.
