On May 8, 2020, Dean Huang was invited to the International webinar “Advancing Open Educational Practice in line with UNESCO OER Recommendations during COVID-19 Pandemic”, which was held by Smart Learning Institute, Beijing Normal University (SLIBNU), UNESCO International Research and Training Center for Rural Education (UNESCO INRULED), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Education Information Technology Research Institute (UNESCO IITE) in Beijing time on May 8, 2020. The topics of this webinar included OEP, OER and remote education, etc. It aimed to explore the approaches to effectively use OEP and OER to share professional knowledge with and offer practical guidance for teachers and leaners in the world in response to the challenges brought by the pandemic.
In the seminar, SLIBNU’s academic team presented the “Guidance on Open Educational Practices during School Closure: Utilizing OER in COVID-19 Pandemic in line with UNESCO OER Recommendations”. In addition, the conference also invited experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from China, the United States, Britain, Turkey, Estonia and other countries, who will share their personal opinions and practical experiences on OEP and OER according to UNESCO OER Recommendations and the corresponding measures of each country during the pandemic. They discussed topics such as the ways to effectively transform current teaching modes through OEP and OER.
